“The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display His craftsmanship.” (Psalm 19:1) NLT

Living in Ohio most of my life where gloomy clouds make up over half the days in a year, I learned to appreciate the sunshine.

Every gorgeous, blue-skied sunny day was a treasured gift from God. Now living here in coastal North Carolina, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the abundant sunshine God spreads before me almost daily.

God speaks to me in His Word through the Holy Spirit and He speaks through my pastor in church, but I also love to soak up His presence when He speaks to me through His creation.

The coast has become a special place for me to drink in the beauty of God’s glory within His beautiful skies.

But what is God’s glory? It’s the essence of who He is – His magnificent splendor, the beauty of His Spirit, His holiness, His righteousness, His power – never changing, forever eternal, and greater than the heavens.

So when I watch the arc of the rising sun until she slips below the horizon for the golden moon to take her place, I hear God’s creation silently speak of His glory day and night. (Ps. 19:2-3)

In the evening when cotton candy skies hang stunningly in the distance, I’m humbled by the glorious Artist God is. (Ps. 19:1b)

When the twinkling stars light up the sky, I look up with praise and amazement for my God who counts them and calls them by name. (Ps. 147:4)

And when the sun fades back and black clouds close in, I hear God’s voice move upon the waters and hear His glory in the thunder. (Ps. 29:3)

Friend, make it a daily challenge to… Look. Listen. Breathe.

Show up for a sunrise. Chase a sunset. Bask in the twinkling of the stars. Feel His power in the storm.

Lift up your worship and praise, your thankfulness, and your trust in our Creator who holds every aspect of our lives in His hands.

Today let the heavens declare His glory in your heart.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the wonderful, beautiful, yet powerful ways you speak to us through your Creation. We worship You as our Creator and help us never miss the opportunity to see the message of Your glory You’re writing for us in the heavens. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
